Eurisy General Assembly 2025 and “Big Data: Space Solutions for Society” Workshop
On June 30, 2025, the General Assembly of the members of the Association of the European Space Agencies and Offices – Eurisy, was held in Kalkara, Malta. The Director of Risk-Space-Transfer Technology Transfer Office (RST-TTO) at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences – Mr. Kamen Iliev, was re-elected for a new 3-year term as a member of the Eurisy Council. During the meeting, he gave a presentation on RST-TTO’s ongoing activities.
One of the key decisions made at the General Assembly was the election of the new Eurisy President who will lead the Association during the next term – Mr. Eric Morel de Westgaver, currently Director of the Directorate “Strategy, Legal and External Affairs” of the European Space Agency.
As a result of the discussions, the general vision of the members for the future of Eurisy was outlined. RST-TTO, as an active member of Eurisy, will continue to work towards achieving the common goals and promoting the latest achievements in space technologies and their application for crisis management, natural disasters and accidents, as well as for addressing the adverse effects of climate change on security and defence.
The General Assembly was accompanied by a two-day workshop: “Big Data: Space Solutions for Society”, jointly organized by Eurisy and the Malta Council for Science and Technology - Xjenza Malta. The international event brought together key stakeholders across Europe to explore how satellite-derived big data is unlocking innovation and addressing societal challenges.
